birthday – KonsolScript http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web The Free and Open Game Programming Language Thu, 17 Nov 2011 18:28:06 +0000 en-CA hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.3.1 KonsolScript 0.3.111117 released http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2011/11/18/konsolscript-0-3-111117-released/ http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2011/11/18/konsolscript-0-3-111117-released/#comments Thu, 17 Nov 2011 16:23:40 +0000 http://konsolscript.sf.net/web/?p=359 Just in time for KonsolScript’s sixth birthday! The sixth and our last release for 0.3 series before we move to 0.4 early next year, which would be in a-month-and-a-half time from now. Here it is!

So what’s so important in this release? This is the Quixie build that is compatible to the on-going patch of KonsolScript Editor. New features includes addition of Array:Pop and String:Split which are already supported in latest KSE. This new functions are provided to complement Net class’ very primitive functionality — this is in preparation of adding multiplayer support for Smack!

Plus, did I mention that this contains 19 fixes? Yep. Nineteen fixes in one month! Yep. We’ve been busy alright.

And finally, anyone is now able to install KonsolScript with non-admin account on Windows.

As tested on Windows 7, default install path is now at:
C:\Users\any_non_admin_account\AppData\Local\KonsolScript\Engine

Not to mention, Ubuntu 11.10 users can now install KonsolScript without using the terminal! Pretty psyched now, huh? Get it at the Downloads section!

Don’t forget to keep the bug reports coming.

KonsolScript is 4 years old http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2009/11/30/konsolscript-is-4-years-old/ http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2009/11/30/konsolscript-is-4-years-old/#respond Sun, 29 Nov 2009 19:08:47 +0000 http://konsolscript.sf.net/web/?p=189 Ki-si
Before November ends, let us be reminded that KonsolScript is now on its fourth year since its “Hello World”.

I’ve been mostly alone in developing KonsolScript but some geeks and hackers have shared some of their precious time to help me get a bug fixed, new features added, and processes optimized.

With KonsolScript’s fourth year of existence, my sincere thanks to MySoft, sir_mud, DJ Peters, Kristopher Windsor, Lachie Dazdarian, and others who’s names I forgot.

Happy birthday KonsolScript!

KonsolScript is 3 years old http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2008/11/10/konsolscript-is-3-years-old/ http://konsolscript.sourceforge.net/web/2008/11/10/konsolscript-is-3-years-old/#comments Mon, 10 Nov 2008 15:52:31 +0000 http://konsolscript.sf.net/web/?p=166 Although the specific date is not known, the first official build was compiled sometime around November 2005. And file’s creation date suggests that the first lines of code for the engine was early August of the same year — Yes, it’s been 3 years!

Looking back, many people have been involved to the development of the KonsolScript; Some people have been deeply involved (Veredus, Ionix, Podgod, Hero, and Rags), who’s faces I have never seen, have contributed codes, demo, and ideas.

Testing the engine was the most critical part of the development. It helped made the engine quite stable and and got some suggestions for improvement. We owe a lot of this help from the testers from selected students of Eastern Luzon Colleges. And to students of Saint Mary’s University — specifically the IT students, who have contributed demo games and animations. Both schools are from Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.

Download Ki-siAnd thanks to Hero, the designer of the mascot, we now have Ki-si, a ninja pig. He is shown on the left offering KonsolScript).

Although, the end-goal is far from being achieved. Thus, the development team is still needing more contributors to take-part in the quest to make a Free and Open Source Game Programming Language and a complete 2D Game Development Kit.

See you at the forums!

KonsolScript, Developer
