KonsolScript 0.1.82 released

We, here at Krixware, are proud to announce that the initial public pre-release of Project:Quixie 120407 source code has been made.

For this new KonsolScript engine, we opted to use the MDY versioning for now. So that’s, December 4, 2007 build we have there.

The content of the zip file is a tar ball of FreeBASIC-written Project:Quixie source files which is compilable on Windows and GNU/Linux platform.

To build, you need at least FreeBASIC compiler 0.18.2 for your platform.
For GNU/Linux, you need developer packages for X11, LibC, nCurses and zLib. For Windows, you only need a DLL of zLib or simply install the FreeKE Framework.

Compiling : For GNU/Linux, execute “make.sh”. For Windows, execute “make.bat”.

ISSUES: When executing a compiled Quixie, sometimes the Quixie window won’t show at all. For GNU/Linux, be sure to execute Quixie using Terminal to Cancel the execution. For Windows, End-task Quixie in Task Manager.

Fixing Bugs: Fixes are welcomed.

If you found a bug and you think you can fix it, please do so or email me at mjmendoza (at) smu (dot) edu (dot) ph.

If you made some fixes, you can execute backup.sh or backup.bat. You need 7z or p7zip for this.

For two-long months, the development was focused to the new KonsolScript engine and the tools. We shamefully admit that no significant change was made with FreeKE. Except for bug fixes.

As always, FreeKE is released in three zip files for tree different user-groups:

NOTE :
For others who don’t know about FreeKE and Quixie. Those are two different KonsolScript engine. FreeKE is doing much better but runs only in Windows. Quixie on the other hand, is being developed to support what FreeKE does plus it also runs on GNU/Linux platform (currently tested on Ubuntu 7.04 & 7.10).

By the time Quixie overtake FreeKE’s capability, FreeKE development will be fully stopped… or so. For the reason, Quixie could have much more powerful features since Quixie is being written with another language (FreeBASIC).
